Here comes the sun !

On the one hand Topas luminaires can be categorized as cold lights because they generate very little heat. They require less energy and stand out for their long working life. On the other hand, these large-surfaced lights are also referred to as softlights because of their extremely soft light emission. The layout of the illuminants ensures both exceptionally even light emission and optimal cooling, because a stream of air constantly flows through the luminaire. This optimizes light output even during extended use.

Here comes the sun !

Daylight luminaires feature a color temperature of between 5,600 K and 6,000 K and thus offer the intensity of natural sunlight. The bulbs in these lamps are filled with a combination of halogen gases and a series of metals, including rare earth metals. Because the distance between the electrodes in daylight luminaires is so small, they achieve a higher light efficiency and better color reproduction than tungsten luminaires, with the capacity ranging from 200 W to 18 kW.
Also known as HMI or metal halide lamps, daylight luminaires are the most well-known discharge lamps. A ballast produces the high voltage required to ignite the light arc between the electrodes and sustain the arc voltage.

Modern electronic ballasts can also be used to dim the output of a daylight luminaire by between 50 % and 100 %.
These luminaires are mainly used for outdoor production, and are also very popular for night shoots, as their color temperature is more efficient at creating an authentic night look.

IDX X3

The X3 is a revolutionary professional quality on-board camera light utilizing high-powered LED technology. The unique LEDs are so advanced that, combined with IDX power drive circuitry, professional users can now experience for the first time a long-lasting, on-board camera light. Outputting the equivalent to a 35W halogen bulb at "daylight" color temperature, while only requiring 11W of power, the X3 gives amazing power efficiency and is a significant help for battery life in ENG situations.

The LEDs are rated to last in excess of 10,000 hours, eliminating the need to carry fragile, spare filament bulbs. The X3 requires no safety glass, no dichroic filter and the LEDs are configured in a unique lens holder which ensures a uniform and consistent light dispersal.

No need to...

  • change bulbs
  • maintain or worry about handling bulbs
  • twist or pull when removing bulbs
  • Its built-in dimmer control adjustable from 0~100%, allows quick and easy setting of precisely the correct amount of light. No more need to carry extra lamp heads with different rated
  • bulbs. It is also flicker and noise free.

The X3 is based in a stylish molded case, allowing optimum strength and lightweight configuration. The solid state technology of LEDs eliminates bulbs, resulting in an extremely rugged, durable and lightweight design -- an absolute must for an onboard camera light.

The X3 outputs no heat in front of the light so lit subjects and even filters/gels in front of the light can all remain unaffected by heat.
